Stryker Navigation

Project information

Design: Plastic assemblies

Individual items: 5 main assemblies

Design consulting
A sound concept was put together and a feasibility study was carried out by means of collaboration with the designer, Construction and Production in order to find the best production method to use.

During the design and engineering phase, a housing which met all the mechanical demands that apply to a device for surgical use was constructed by means of collaboration with the customer and designer.

Tool management
All the parameters for an optimum production process were taken into account in the tool concept formulated. The five steel and aluminium moulds were designed for the existing production machines.
The following production processes are used in the manufacture of components:

All the visible surfaces of components are given a structured painted surface on Romay's own painting lines. In order to guarantee problem-free adhesion, the company logo inscriptions are produced by means of silk-screen printing.

Procured components were evaluated and selected by means of collaboration with the customer. The timely procurement of the components was carried out by Romay's Supplier Management department.

In order to guarantee a smooth flow of materials, the final assembly and preparation of the complex assemblies is carried out at specially designed assembly stations.

Romay supplies products directly to the customer's production department.

The navigation system helps surgeons to position implants accurately using a computer, infrared camera and wireless instruments. With its ingenious design and perfect construction, this housing complies with all the relevant ergonomic principles.
