Stadler FLIRT – Interior Cladding System

Development of interior cladding system for the Stadler FLIRT platform.

Stadler FLIRT – Interior Cladding System

Scope:
ROMAY developed and supplied the interior cladding system for the Stadler FLIRT platform.

Design & Engineering:
In collaboration with Stadler’s design and engineering teams, ROMAY developed a production-optimized solution that met functional and cost requirements. The platform approach allows consistent application across multiple FLIRT variants.

Tooling & Production:
An optimized tooling concept enabled all moulded SMC parts to be produced using limited, universal production tools. Manufacturing includes SMC hot pressing. All visible surfaces are finished on ROMAY’s automated painting lines.

Procurement & Assembly:
Procured components were jointly evaluated with the customer and sourced through ROMAY’s supplier management system. Component preparation and assembly required close coordination due to project complexity.

Logistics:
Deliveries to the vehicle manufacturer were organized using returnable packaging, ensuring efficient handling and transport between production sites.

Result:
The SMC-based components assembly withstands demanding environmental conditions while meeting Stadler’s cost and quality targets. The modular platform design supports future FLIRT projects using the same component family.
